We save milk jugs for our many animal tasks and to add liquid fertilizer to the garden beds, but more recently, I came upon some cooler projects to use them for.
Sometimes when I am watching TV, or just chatting, I cut them up into squares, to someday make this cool curtain, inspired by homemade mamas. You can read the directions here.
The jugs also make great storage, especially for group projects, as seen on craftzine.
They could be used for games too... like sorting objects and matching colors and many more.
I would just make sure the cut edges are not sharp for little skin. Perhaps a couple times going over it with rough sandpaper would dull it enough.

Great ideas! I reuse my milk jugs in the garden by cutting out the bottoms and turning them into cloches to put over delicate plants. :)

I wish our milk in Ontario came in plastic jugs - we only have plastic bags or cardboard containers.
I'm sure there are so many ways to repurpose these and you've shown a number of them.
Very clever, Marcia! I am shocked at how many juice and milk cartons we go through in our house..your curtain idea might be a good way to keep the afternoon sun off our back porch, and reuse the bottles. I'll let you know if I get it done!

The pencil container idea is fab!! You know when i was looking at the photos I thought about sharp edges... you're on the ball!! You could also melt the edges smooth over a hot non-stick pan..

Cool ideas! Our milk comes in glass canning jars, so we don't have plastic like that, but I love that curtain idea...I bet there are other things that could be recycled into it. :)
Great idea...for those of us who have empty nests, perhaps donating our used jugs to a local day-care centre or girl-guide troop with a little how-to instruction from your post would be a way to jump right in!
