I made a mixed media faerie for a dear friend .
The faerie is flying in the forest enjoying all the marvels on her journey.
I was able to use my new creative nook today, despite the heat and humidity. When I start creating, I get in a flow and tend to forget any sort of discomfort.
Her body is made of chenille stems and embroidery floss. Her head is a wooden bead, her hat an acorn cap, and her braids are made from the manes of our Haflinger horses. Silk flowers make up her skirt.
The forest is hand marbled paper and the birch bark, ferns and lichen are real. An inspiring book, Felt Wee Folk by Salley Mavor, has other adorable faeries and wee folk to make and enjoy.
"And as the seasons come and go, here's something you might like to know ... there are fairies everywhere under bushes, in the air,
playing games just like you play, singing through their busy day.
So listen, touch, and look around -- in the air and on the ground.
And if you watch all nature's things, you might just see a fairy's wing."

Hi, thanks for mentioning my book, Felt Wee Folk! I'm so glad you enjoyed making the fairy. Since we live in the same area, I'd like to invite you to a book release party and show opening at Highfield Hall in Falmouth, MA on Sept. 26the at 4pm. I hope you can come!
Oh thank you so much Sally. I would LOVE to come!
I LOVE your book! Your wee folk and faeries are so very precious. Of course, I don't make them as well as you do hehehe.
Tomorrow my daughter and I are going to Highfield Hall to meet Sharon Lovejoy!
happy day!
I have that book too and we've greatly enjoyed it. Your little fairy is just magical. How cute is she. Now I'm in the mood to go make a fairy. Thanks for the inspiration.
Sally's books are magical, what a lovely artist creation, cheers Marie

Thanks so much for your kind comments about my studio.
Have a wonderful day,

Adorei sua criatividade. Está lindinha.
What a great card. I would never have thought of putting a fairy, like this one, on a card, but it works. I see you're making good use of your creative space.
Thank you everyone! I'm going to make more fairies and wee folk for the children to use with logs and bark, etc making their own *houses*.
Cheryl..it's actually on a board that can be used with a glass frame...one that has a stand you can pull out to stand up or a ring to hang on the wall.
